Digidesign Pro Tools 8 Tutorial Video
This multi-part Digidesign Pro Tools 8 Tutorial Video takes you to the heart of professional audio production, giving you a detailed tour of one of the most powerful software solutions on the market and giving you practical tips and advice for everyday use.
Geared toward beginners and intermediate users, the series provides users with a solid working knowledge of the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) so they have what it takes to make professional level work in a manageable amount of time. The course features an intuitive visual based format and professional guidance from an expert audio engineer.
Pro Tools 8: Raising the Bar, Again
Pro Tools has always been the heavy-hitter in professional audio production, but the level of competition has dramatically increased in the last five years. The engineers at Digidesign have taken notice. Pro Tools 8 has the same great stuff that’s made the program a prerequisite in certain studios, with new functionality and effects meant to send a signal to users who have migrated to Cubase or Logic for much of their audio work.
More & Better Plug-Ins
Part of the new competition in audio software has been in modular plug-ins that give engineers an instant virtual toolkit of production effects. Pro Tools 8 comes with twenty new effects plug-ins, in addition to its previous stock and features five full virtual instruments that make music creation and tweaking that much easier. Digidesign has also included an extremely useful feature that lets you open a session without the plug-ins activated to load projects quickly for basic inspection and playback.
Enhanced MIDI Functionality
Here’s a point where Pro Tools has lagged behind a little in the past, but not any longer. New MIDI Editor windows show MIDI and automation data for instrument, auxiliary input and MIDI tracks and also lets you view and edit velocity, MIDI controllers, and automation data simultaneously. The graphical sequencing capabilities finally have the oomph of what’s offered in Digital Performer and Logic, and will give composers a serious edge. Borrowing from Sibelius, you can now view MIDI tracks in score notation when you want total control.
Happier Mixing
Digidesign engineers have also increased your ability to do more at once. Instead of pausing the playback of a project every time you wanted to adjust key elements of the mix, you can now make many changes in real time, including removing and adding tracks and modifying I/O routing. To put your hardware to even better use, you can now add up to ten inserts per track.
These are just some of the features and capabilities included in Pro Tools 8. And while it’s certainly the most easy to use release to date, Pro Tools is a complex and serious piece of kit. To take full advantage of new features and old, the Digidesign Pro Tools 8 Tutorial Video is a smart place to start. You get plenty of hands on examples and practical advice that makes learning the software feel natural and fun.
